PURO SLAM supports DJ culture by booking DJs from various
backgrounds (house, jungle, hip-hop, reggae) to spin so people can let out
some of that competitive aggression on the dance floor. We're looking for
any local or touring DJs to give it a shot.

DEEJAYS: If you wanna spin at ¡SLAM!, you get $50 bucks for 2.5 hours
of work (which breaks down to $20 per hour of your time). If we book you on
the night of a poetry showcase, then you get $30 for only 1.5 hours of
spinning (which still breaks down to $20 per hour).

Here's the way our nightly schedule plays out:
9pm
--doors open
9:30pm to 10:30pm
--1st DJ set OR poetry showcase
10pm to 10:20pm
--poet signup
10:30pm to 11:15pm
--ROUND ONE
11:15pm to 11:30pm
--15 minute break w/DJ
--open freestyle
11:30pm to 12:15am
--ROUND TWO
12:15am to 12:30am
--15 minute break
--open freestyle
12:30am to 1am
--FINAL ROUND & awards
1am to 2am
--DJ after-party

Also, you get a readymade crowd (more than just the regular club kids + DJ
crowd!...diversify your audience!), we do the promotions for you, you only
have to bring your crate of records (professional DJ booth with all
technical amenities available), and you get a big crowd for a Tuesday night
-- good pay, rowdy crowd (THEY DANCE!), exposure, and free promotions, for
